In 2018, the Health Services Academy (HSA) became the first Degree Awarding Institution (DAI) in Public Health Sciences in Pakistan. It came into existence in 1988 as an in-service training institute by the Ministry of Health.
In 2002, HSA was given the status of an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health. HSA started the MPH program in 1996 to train health managers in Pakistan. In 2006, it was upgraded to a two-year MSPH program to meet international standards.
